With most employees adopting the ”always on” culture, it is refreshing to discover that some large companies are automating the deletion of e-mails while their staff are on annual leave. Instead of the usual out-of-office reply, a message is returned advising that the e-mail will be automatically deleted and should be re-sent, if important, after a certain date.
It would appear that most people that receive this notification respond positively and wish that their company would adopt a similar way of thinking. It strikes me that these fortunate employees are likely to remain more positive post holiday, than those returning to an overflowing inbox containing many now irrelevant e-mails.
Are you brave enough to have such an out of-of-office reply or even switch off your mobile devices while you are on holiday?
