With the trend for mobile working growing rapidly, we take a look at what consumers are looking for and what choices they have at their disposal.
Key requisites seem to be really fast internet, a casual environment with networking opportunities and really good coffee. Most people are aware that they can now visit a high street coffee shop or fast food restaurant and use ‘free’ Wi-Fi, albeit for a limited period. Free in as much as you won’t be asked to pay for the Wi-Fi, not so free in the sense that you will definitely have to contribute indirectly for the running cost of this facility by investing in a Mc ’beef’ burger, or tax free, allegedly, skinny latte. So I guess your ‘free’ access is really costing you in the region of £2-3 per hour. That’s quite expensive internet if you are planning on spending 3 hours a day in one of these locations and probably not the ideal environment to carry out your day-to-day business.
Some of the major hotel groups are watching these developments with great interest, as they feel that they are able to provide everything that the mobile worker requires. It is therefore very important that our industry grabs this fantastic opportunity and offers great mobile working solutions.
At Oasis we are developing our plans for a vibrant working space that allows mobile entrepreneurs to pay for the time that they use, while providing them the opportunity to speak to like minded people and form valuable business links.
We would like to hear your comments on what you look for in a flexible workspace.
