Secure Wi-Fi

We have now completed the installation of our building-wide managed wi-fi solution across all of our Centres. Wireless Access Points have been installed throughout the building, providing excellent levels of coverage.

Our secure wi-fi uses WPA2-Enterprise, certificate based authentication. All Clients are required to log-in with their username and password which is created on our new MESH hardware. Once a Client has logged onto the wi-fi they will be put onto their own VLAN. This means that they can print to their printers and connect to Network Attched Storage systems.

Once a Client is connected to the wi-fi, they will be able to stay connected if they are in the Conference Room, breakout area, or anywhere else in the building, as if they were connected via a wall port in their office.

No Escape From the Office?

Delete-button-150x150With most employees adopting the ”always on” culture, it is refreshing to discover that some large companies are automating the deletion of e-mails while their staff are on annual leave. Instead of the usual out-of-office reply, a message is returned advising that the e-mail will be automatically deleted and should be re-sent, if important, after a certain date.

It would appear that most people that receive this notification respond positively and wish that their company would adopt a similar way of thinking. It strikes me that these fortunate employees are likely to remain more positive post holiday, than those returning to an overflowing inbox containing many now irrelevant e-mails.

Are you brave enough to have such an out of-of-office reply or even switch off your mobile devices while you are on holiday?

Why Choose Virtual?

Could your business benefit from Virtual Office Services? Having access to the services that come with a Virtual Office package, could help take your company to the next level.

By providing you with a business address, clients and suppliers will view your company in a better light and are more likely to want to do business with you. This address can also be used for the public listing of your company, meaning that your home address will not be in the public domain.

Through arranging  a geographical phone number, that we answer in your company name, you can effectively have a ”local” presence anywhere in the country. Even when you are unavailable, your calls will be answered in a professional manner and messages forwarded to you via e-mail.

People viewing your website are far less likely to contact you by phone if the only number available is a mobile. A landline number provides a degree of comfort and shows that it is a professional business.

All Virtual Clients have access to our meeting facilities, allowing you to meet with clients etc. in professional surroundings, raising your business profile.

You will also get access to our networking events, giving you access to like minded people that have faced similar business problems.

If you would like to discuss your requirements further, or would like to have a look around one of our centres, please e-mail or call on 020 8200 2300. We look forward to welcoming you.

Willow Foundation Fundraiser

Regular readers will know that Oasis Serviced Offices are dedicated to raising funds for worthwhile causes whenever possible. The month of March was no exception.

Our chosen charity was the Willow Foundation, which was established to bring special days to the seriously ill, between the ages of 16 and 40 living in the United Kingdom.

We are delighted to report that with the help of our clients and visitors to the centres, we managed to raise a grand total of £661.22.

Thank you to everyone that contributed and to all of the Oasis team that helped to organise this event. It is not too late to show your support and make a contribution on line at

Staples Trial Business Hubs

Following the launch of their business lounges at motorway service stations, Regus are collaborating with Staples, the stationery chain, to offer drop-in work space. The new scheme is being trialled in four of the Staples stores, Swindon, Sheffield, Reading and Birmingham.

This new breed of flexible workers is certainly grabbing the attention of big companies that have not dabbled in this area of business before and looks set to create some unusal partnerships.

Mobile Working – What are you looking for?

With the trend for mobile working growing rapidly, we take a look at what consumers are looking for and what choices they have at their disposal.
Key requisites seem to be really fast internet, a casual environment with networking opportunities and really good coffee. Most people are aware that they can now visit a high street coffee shop or fast food restaurant and use ‘free’ Wi-Fi, albeit for a limited period. Free in as much as you won’t be asked to pay for the Wi-Fi, not so free in the sense that you will definitely have to contribute indirectly for the running cost of this facility by investing in a Mc ’beef’ burger, or tax free, allegedly, skinny latte. So I guess your ‘free’ access is really costing you in the region of £2-3 per hour. That’s quite expensive internet if you are planning on spending 3 hours a day in one of these locations and probably not the ideal environment to carry out your day-to-day business.
Some of the major hotel groups are watching these developments with great interest, as they feel that they are able to provide everything that the mobile worker requires. It is therefore very important that our industry grabs this fantastic opportunity and offers great mobile working solutions.
At Oasis we are developing our plans for a vibrant working space that allows mobile entrepreneurs to pay for the time that they use, while providing them the opportunity to speak to like minded people and form valuable business links.
We would like to hear your comments on what you look for in a flexible workspace.
